On May 23, 2012, IFS signed an
agreement to purchase
Metrix LLC, a leading provider of
field service management and mobility software.
Since 1980, Metrix LLC, has been
headquartered in Waukesha, WI, with subsidiaries in the Netherlands and
China (Singapore), and a sales partner in the UK. With over 50
employees, serving approximately 90 customers, Metrix provides a full
suite of software applications for field service, scheduling, warranty
management, reverse logistics and mobility solutions that are available
either on-premise or on-demand. Metrix's well-known customers include:
Ericsson Group, Motorola, Xerox, Space Engineering Services, DHL, Auto
Windscreens, ITT, IMAX, Ingenico, Makino and Sysmex.
The investment in Metrix LLC is
consistent with our mergers and acquisitions strategy of acquiring
companies that continue to help us strengthen our position in specific
target markets. This acquisition will further strengthen IFS’s market
position in the service management area, complement our existing service
management applications, and strengthen our existing investment in our
field service optimization solution, IFS 360 Scheduling. Infotech
Research Group has placed Metrix LLC in the “Champion” category as one

Free White Paper: DPAS Ratings & Selecting ERP
for Aerospace and Defense
DPAS ratings are driven by regulation, but can be
turned into a competitive advantage in the market
for an aerospace and defense contractor or
manufacturer running the right software. Selecting
the right ERP, EAM and other enterprise software is
a challenge, and this whitepaper contains tips for a
successful selection.
This whitepaper discusses how implementing
regulation, the Defense Priorities Allocation System
(DPAS), affects your ability to compete for defense
program dollars. It also addresses how the right
functionality in enterprise software including
enterprise resource planning (ERP), enterprise asset
management (EAM) and maintenance repair and overhaul
(MRO) can help you succeed.

Podcast: Selecting ERP for
Engineer-to-Order (ETO) Manufacturing

Engineer to Order manufacturing poses
challenges for enterprise resource planning (ERP) software. Peter Gross,
president of boutique ERP consultancy Pemeco, discusses the project
management, engineering and integration requirements to look for when
selecting ERP for engineer to order (ETO) manufacturing businesses.
Gross suggests three factors bear
close scrutiny:
- The ability of the software to handle
work breakdown structures.
- Project costing and budgeting.
- Segregation, including segregation of
inventory and segregation of work-in-progress (WIP).
Gross also stresses the importance of
revision control.
|
"The
key elements when you get down to revision control and the
change process revolves around what happens to the items
that are out on the floor today that I am making to old
revisions… or those that are sitting on the shelf that have
to be updated and brought up to spec. There have to be
fairly sophisticated reporting mechanisms in place so I can
identify those things that are out of spec."

Meet the IFS Team
Each month the IFS customer newsletter

This month's spotlight is on:
Vishan
Subasinghe

Senior Software Engineer

"I have been working for IFS for over 13 years, and I work
from the Chicago
office.
What I like
most about working for IFS is the freedom I have at work, which
includes the freedom to get closer to and understand our
customer's problems and then the freedom to explore, find
solutions and then implement them.
On a
personal note, my lovely wife is named Sherryl and we've been
together over 12 years. My lovely son Yehan, is seven years old
and my lovely daughter Nethara, is 4 years old.
In my free time I enjoy playing cricket
and I have played in the
Chicago suburb’s amateur league, where I was part of the
champion team many times.
An interesting
fact about me is I grew up around a lot of coconut trees in Sri
Lanka, and I learned how to climb coconut trees with my bare
hands and feet." |
