Project-Centric Serimax Selects
IFS
|
|
|
|
|
Serimax,
an international welding company focusing on oil and gas
industries, has selected IFS Applications to overhaul
its information system and optimize the management and
follow-up of projects carried out under extreme
conditions.When designing its
information systems, the company had to consider the
need to harmonize processes after a merger, the
complexity of the projects managed, and the extreme
conditions under which the projects are carried out.
Serimax needed a consolidated data management system to
successfully manage its projects and ensure corporate
growth.

Podcast: Oil and Gas Industry
Places Heavy Demands on ERP
|
|
|
|
|
In this
month's
IFS Radio Network podcast,
IFS industry expert Magne Halvorsen discusses the
unique ERP needs of companies that provide products
and services to the oil and gas industry --
including EPC contractors, equipment fabricators and
companies that provide industry services like
drilling.
These companies are facing new and extreme pressures
as the lower price of oil drives oil and gas
companies to demand more accountability and
performance from their suppliers. In this podcast,
Halvorsen discusses in detail what functionality
companies in this project-centric and
asset-intensive industry require of their enterprise
platform.
Halvorsen’s remarks should be of intense interest to
companies in the oil and gas industry, but will also
be fascinating to other asset- and project-intensive
industries.

|
|
"Due to this
stress in the industry, the oil companies
have seen that the quality is not met, the
delivery times are not met, things tend to
be months delayed. And I think that even
though the burden should probably be split
among all of the actors, in the end, the oil
company is the customer. So they will
require more efficiency from the suppliers
and the contractors. They will set stronger
demand for project control, stronger demand
for sufficient IT structures, stronger
demand for the ability to collaborate
better. And all of these demands drive
demand for more modern technology and
improved systems."

IFS Expert Writes
on Using ERP to Weather the Recession
|
|
|
|
|
IFS Senior Advisor Bill Leedale penned this article for
Technology Evaluation Centers on how project management
is becoming the default method for managing even ongoing
operations. Managing by project is particularly
important in recessionary times, and these slowdowns can
be managed just like a variance in a project.

Managing Automation Reports
Favorably on IFS Q1 Financials
|
|
|

|
Managing Automation
notes how IFS Q1 2009 results compare favorably to those
of another enterprise vendor, CDC Software.
Writes contributor Diane Himes: "Two earnings reports
from enterprise software providers this week showed
contrasting results, as mid-market ERP provider CDC
Software revealed a 22% year-over-year revenue drop, and
its larger counterpart IFS showed a 14% increase in
revenue, buoyed by industries less exposed to global
economic conditions."
