Podcast - Manage Outside
Maintenance Contractors
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
"You’re
going to keep those in your maintenance
organization who are tied directly to the
production of your product. You are going to
have those specialists there, and will
outsource things that don't require specific
knowledge of your processes. So entirely
outsourcing maintenance is not likely to
happen for most organizations, although it
can be done. You are going to outsource as
much as you can, because those people are
coming in and doing maintenance, and they’re
not on your payroll 40-50 hours a week. They
are only on the clock and creating cost for
you when they are on site."

Customer Success: Six-company
manufacturing group adjusts to higher petroleum prices
in 2 days
|
|
|
|
|
Waddington North America (WNA)
manufactures and markets high-quality plastic disposable
cups, plates, cutlery, serving ware, dessert ware and
custom packaging for caterers, party good stores,
restaurants, etc.
WNA manufactures its products out of
petroleum resin, so the increase in oil was a concern.
Regardless of fluctuations of the price of oil, which
drives the cost of resin, WNA has tried to increase
prices on its line of products only once a year.
However, in the fall of 2008, the company had to
undertake a complete price roll-up to adjust for
dramatic increases in input costs.
By using IFS
Applications, WNA was able to:
- Complete price roll for all six
companies within 48 hours.
- Standardize after merger and
acquisitions activity through a common enterprise
software platform.
- Create a fully-functional, cohesive
enterprise.
- Automate intra-company transactions to
reduce administrative tasks.

"Try to do that without an
ERP
system and it takes weeks. Trying
to do that without an ERP system
that doesn’t have
intra-company capabilities
and it
will still take over a
week … (It took us) two
business days to accomplish all
of
the cost rolls (with IFS Applications)."
