White Paper: Usability as an ERP
Selection Criteria
|
|
|
|
|
ERP
software is often criticized for being complex and
difficult to use. Learn to evaluate ERP software for
usability, and how consistent design, affordance,
integrated search functionality and Web-like interfaces
can make ERP easier to use. Avoid investing in platforms
that won’t be evolved towards more usable and efficient
interfaces.

Podcast - Lean Supply Chain
Concepts for the Real World
|
|
|
|
|
In this
month's
IFS Radio Network podcast, IFS Senior Advisory Jacob
Bjorklund discusses how enterprise software can
deliver lean supply chain improvements. Using
real-world examples, Bjorklund describes how
inventory levels can be decreased and inventory
turns increased by focusing on accurate demand
forecasting, running in multiple modes, integrating
quality management and documenting processes to
facilitate ongoing improvement.

"Many companies
operate with one single MRP-based process,
maybe because they have an old IT system
that doesn't do anything by MRP. But MRP is
fine if you have stable demand which is
predictable. But most of the time 20% of the
products that you manufacture has a stable
demand pattern, and you can try to execute
them in an efficient way to maximize
production. But then, 80% of your part
numbers are asked for rarely, and you should
try to, in parallel with the efficient
make-to-stock process, have a responsive
make-to-order process."

IFS Enterprise Explorer Early
Adopter Program
|
|
|
|
|
|

The IFS
Enterprise Explorer (IEE) Early Adopter Program kicked
off in mid-November of 2008 and there have already been
some impressed users. IFS North America customers
participating in the Early Adopter Program are Chief
Industries and Holland Company.
Early Adopter User Quotes:
- "I am very excited about the new
IFS Enterprise Explorer. It has awesome features
that are going to increase productivity and make our
everyday tasks much easier. It is user friendly and
I am certain that anyone who is introduced to this
will feel comfortable right off the bat. I am
excited to start testing and can't wait to find more
tricks and shortcuts."
- "IEE has many features that will
make navigating and retrieving information much
faster and easier. There are a lot of bells and
whistles that will be fun to experiment with."
- "I think Enterprise Explorer will
be a lot easier for people of every experience level
once they get started using it. As I used it, while
doing our test scripts, I found using the recent
screen function really made it easy to jump back and
forth between items I was working on. I had all my
short cuts on 7.5 which would have slowed me down
trying to remember where everything was located but
the navigation filter was a huge time saver and easy
to use."

Benefits to Integrating EAM
Into ERP Solutions
|
|
|
|
|
|
"Many
maintenance managers might argue
a case to keep their enterprise asset management (EAM)
software separate
from their manufacturing company's enterprise resource
planning (ERP) solution, but there are
far more benefits to integrating the two."

Solution by Amanda Earing at Manufacturing.net to learn the
benefits to integrating your EAM and ERP solutions.

Pole/Zero Went Live in Seven Months
|
|
|
|
|
Pole/Zero’s West Chester,
Ohio location is now live and running IFS Applications
Financials, Human Resources, Sales & Support,
Engineering, Manufacturing and Distribution components.
This seven-month implementation was completed within
Pole/Zero's required timeline. There are also future
plans of implementing IFS' CRM module in 2009.

Pole/Zero designs and manufactures radio
frequency products that are used in military
applications. It began the search for an ERP system
because its legacy system could not handle the company's
plans for rapid growth, and the system required many
additional custom software packages to fulfill all its
business needs. In order to streamline its systems and
increase productivity Pole/Zero turned to IFS
Applications.
|
"The use of IFS
Applications will allow us to disseminate
information faster, reduce our paper use,
and make our approval processes more
efficient. This integrated system will
reduce duplication of data entry and
simplify maintenance of our now centralized
data. Additionally, our new ability to
attach supporting documentation to objects
within IFS Applications conveniently puts
essential documentation just a few clicks
away."
~ Jeff Miller, Pole/ Zero, IT Manager |
