Searching In IFS Applications Has Never Been Easier

One of the most frustrating things about using enterprise software is trying to find something in the vast array of screens and query boxes. It can feel like using the web before the days of Google™, when in order to find anything, you had to already know the web address! That is why IFS introduced the industry's first integrated enterprise application search, making searching your enterprise data as easy as using Google. This search capability comes integrated with IFS Applications at no additional cost, and delivers targeted and effective search results that a standalone tool cannot match.

With IFS Enterprise Application Search, searching in IFS Applications is as easy as using Google. Results are presented in order of relevance and can easily be categorized to help users when the number of hits is large. IFS security features guarantee that the search results only contain information the user is authorized to view.

This functionality was introduced in IFS Applications 7 Service Pack 3 with the ability to search customers, suppliers and contacts. In IFS Applications 7.5 Service Pack 1 additional search domains have been added for customer orders, sales part, purchase orders and part, equipment objects, historical and active work orders, service contracts, part catalog, inventory part, modification code, modification description, and modification assigned part numbers.

"Certainly in the current economy there are lots of
people cutting jobs. But a 3% downturn in GDP doesn't  necessarily translate into a 20% reduction in the workforce. We may be in a position to overreact, but instead doing something like management by project may be a better approach. By doing so, you can start asking 'is this a good thing we are about to do?' or 'is there a better way we can keep all of our people working?' Because when the economy turns around again, and it will, and your valuable work force is gone,
you don't want to be
scrambling to bring those
people left up to speed."

~ Bill Leedale, IFS, Senior Advisor

style reports before we implemented
IFS ... At the time we implemented
IFS Applications, we had three
separate government contracts.
One of the benefits was that we
wound up with a standard report
that all three contracts would use
instead of each project manager developing a separate report."
