MultiPlus Solutions
|
|
|
|
|
Earlier this month, IFS
signed an agreement with Qurius International Holding
B.V. to purchase 100 percent of the shares of MultiPlus
Solutions AS. The acquisition will further strengthen
IFS' market position with respect to project-based
solutions (PBS) for targeted industry sectors.
MultiPlus Solutions, based
in Sandefjord, Norway and with sites in China and
Denmark, is a well-established vendor of project-based
business applications to the marine (shipbuilding,
offshore), EPC (Engineering, Procurement and
Construction) and project manufacturing industries. The
company offers a complete ERP suite including
functionality for areas such as finance, project
control, maintenance, manufacturing, document
management, and human resource management.
MultiPlus Solutions has
almost 100 customers in
Norway, Denmark, France, the United States, and China.
IFS intends to continue to support, maintain and enhance
the product, while realizing economy of scale and
synergies related to having similar industry and

IFS Podcast: Are Project Based
Solutions Right for You?
|
|
|
|
|
In this mon th's
IFS Radio Network interview podcast, we are
joined by IFS head of analyst relations Tony
Humphries, who will discuss Project Based
Solutions (PBS), a type of ERP IFS has been
formalizing and defining with
other thought leaders including
Ray Wang, formerly of analyst firm Forrester
Research. Humphries will walk through a series
of criteria that will help you determine if PBS
is a better fit for your business than
traditional ERP.
Humphries outlines a series of
categories defined jointly by IFS and Forrester,
including Project Critical, Project Centric,
Project Enabled, Project Potential and Project
Never.
|
"There are three
critical things - Is what you make high
value? Are you controlled
by regulatory
compliance … rigorous regulatory compliance?
And do you have an understanding of what it
is you are accepting an order for, i.e. do
you have a complete specification, before
you sign the order? Depending on how you
answer those three
questions determines
whether Project Based Solutions is right for
you. The important thing
is how you answer these three questions, not
whether you are Critical, Enabled or
Centric."

RFI, certified by Technology Evaluation Centers (TEC),
is the industry's easiest and quickest way to create an
RFI for enterprise applications. It provides a template
of more than 3,000 functional specifications, organized

Announcement: Defense Group Saab Signs
Corporate
Agreement with IFS
|
|
|
|
|
Saab
AB signed a corporate agreement with IFS to deepen the
cooperation between the parties and to position the
group for new business opportunities. Several companies
within Saab currently use IFS Applications for
after-sales services, design and manufacturing, MRO
(Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul), engineering,
supply-chain management, and project management.
Saab has been a
customer of IFS since 1994 and has a long-term strategy
of increasing its use of IFS Applications across the
group to achieve greater efficiency within IT. One
example is the business units that manufacture
aerostructures and related sub-systems for commercial
aviation as well as the military market such as the JAS
Gripen, Saab Aerostructures, which in 2006 carried out a
successful consolidation of 59 self-developed or
customized systems into one common system—IFS
Applications.
"We see great
opportunities for similar synergies in the other
business units within the Saab Group, and our strategy
is to achieve a global standardization of processes and
systems by 2013. We look forward to working with IFS to
continue streamlining and rationalizing our operations
based on a common business system," Saab AB Vice
President ICT Coordination Office Johan Sjödin said.
