New IFS Solution Helps Cut Cost and Carbon

IFS launched a fully-integrated Eco-footprint Management tool as part of an enterprise standard applications suite – helping businesses meet impending environmental regulations.

The Eco-footprint Management tool will provide organizations with unprecedented control and transparency on the environmental impact of their operations. It offers customers an enterprise standard methodology to help them control costs and meet an urgent need to prepare for compliance with environmental legislation.

Eco-footprint Management will be added to IFS' software suite, IFS Applications. Users will be able to configure IFS Applications to capture environmental impact information from throughout their business just as easily as they configure their financial system to capture cost. IFS customers will be able to track the impact of a broad spectrum of activities ranging from raw material sourcing to product design to logistics and emissions - helping them analyze their operations, learn environmental patterns and plan for urgent legislative requirements.

Podcast - DATABASE FACE-OFF - Oracle vs. SQL Server for Enterprise Applications

In this Listen to the IFS Radio Network!month's IFS Radio Network podcast,
IFS North America Chief Technology Officer Rick Veague and Oracle Manager of Technology Platform Solutions Rick Pandya lay out the facts about how these two database platforms compare.

IFS has always standardized on Oracle databases, to the exclusion of other database platforms like SQL Server. Is this the right strategy? Are there benefits to be had from SQL that cannot be obtained from developing an enterprise application strictly on an Oracle database? Listen to this podcast to find out!

"For mission critical applications, I think
the jury is pretty much decided that Oracle is unsurpassed in terms
of its security, scalability, reliability and its ability
to support mission critical operations, particularly when it is coupled with
an application that is highly optimized to take advantage of everything that the Oracle database has to offer – like IFS for example. It has some
very unique technologies and features that SQL
cannot really match,
in many cases. "
