Optimizing
Step By Step Implementation
|
|
|
|
|
This month on the IFS
Radio Networ k
podcast series, Howard Allred of IFS customer Kettle
Foods and IFS North America Chief Technology Officer
Rick Veague discuss the benefits and challenges of
step-by-step implementation.
The modular, agile design of IFS
Applications does allow implementation in phases,
allowing a company to address its most immediate
needs first and realize immediate payback.
Additional functionality can be rolled out later,
reducing disruption to the business and allowing
business needs to be addressed in priority order.
But Allred and Veague stress that while IFS
Applications does not require that "big bang"
implementation, a company still ought to have a
detailed plan for what functionality they want to
roll out and where they want their implantation to
go.
Allred shares his insights as he
plans to upgrade Kettle Foods' instance of IFS
Applications and drive ERP functionality throughout
the company. Rick Veague explains the strength of
the modular, step-by-step design, and stresses the
need for well-defined business processes as an
underpinning for the implementation. Listen now!
|
"The
planning has to be from
a macro level of the total
enterprise. I think the fact
that we can then come
back and do the
implementation a step
at a time allows us to
prioritize. Our priorities
are, first maintaining the
functionality we have
now, second extending
functionality to gaps in our information and a third
priority would be profitability enhancements we can
achieve with things we have
not developed right now."

Utilize Express RFI for Smart
Software Decisions
|
|
|
|
|
|
IFS Expr ess
RFI, certified by Technology Evaluation Centers (TEC),
is the industry's easiest and quickest way to create an
RFI for enterprise applications. It provides a template
of more than 3,000 functional specifications, organized
by department. IFS Applications 7.5 functionality has
already been identified within the RFI, and each
response has been reviewed and certified by a TEC
industry analyst.
IFS Applications 7.5, a component-based enterprise software,
enables enterprise agility so that organizations can
take advantage of rapidly changing international market
conditions. It gives enterprises a service-oriented
architecture (SOA) with reusable business components
designed for improved user productivity, faster
implementation, lower total cost of ownership (TCO) and
easier upgrades. For more

IFS Applications to Support the UK
Defense JAMES Land Project
|
|
|
|
|
Lockheed Martin has selected IFS Applications to provide
the core software for the JAMES Land (Joint Asset
Management Engineering Solution) project for the UK
Ministry of Defense. This agreement is the largest
license contract that IFS has ever won.
The JAMES Land project follows a
previously implemented JAMES 1 solution which is
currently in use by 9,000 users in the regular UK army,
providing a Management Information System to enable
optimized asset usage with minimal fleet sizes. IFS
Applications supports the UK Army with asset information
for identification, configuration and maintenance
requirements as well as current usage and owner.
"This new contract award reflects the
long standing relationship we have with Lockheed Martin
in providing effective turnkey solutions (JAMES1 & JSF)
to the defense market. IFS' strength in enterprise asset
management (EAM) and maintenance repair and overhaul (MRO),
which IFS packages as best-p ractice
solutions for fleet management in the Aerospace & Defense
(A&D) market, makes it easier to deliver
performance-based logistics and maintenance support of
complex assets throughout the product lifecycle," IFS
Defense Ltd. CEO Iain Green said.
