Railroad Service Provider Selects IFS Applications
|
|
|
|
|
Loram Maintenance of Way, Inc. of Hamel, Minn., has
selected IFS Applications to replace its 19-year-old MRP
system.
Loram, a 700-employee maintenance
equipment and services provider to the railroad
industry, chose to implement IFS Applications to reduce
the number of legacy systems and the exorbitant costs
associated with maintaining the connections between
them. After thorough review of the marketplace, IFS
Applications was chosen because of its strong focus on
ETO for the mid-market and its proven MRO solution for
fleets.
 |
“We are
currently running multiple legacy systems, including
a clumsy CMMS that is difficult to use and expensive
to maintain. We realized that our 19-year-old MRP
system was outdated, and we needed to replace it
with a more sophisticated and reliable solution to
improve our bottom line,” said Loram CFO Don Cherrey.

“In
my days as a maintenance manager, I know our finance
people would put things in cost buckets that didn’t
necessarily relate to how I would put together a
budget or how I looked at my costs. They would say
‘all of your facility costs were X dollars,’ which
would roll up fork lifts, air conditioning
maintenance, plumbing, exterior landscaping. It
really
wasn’t divided up the way
I needed it," says Auer.

Life Science Company Went Live
with IFS Applications in Four Months
|
|
|
|
|
Helicos BioSciences, of Cambridge, Mass., went live with
IFS Applications in approximately four months. Helicos
BioSciences, a young company positioned for growth, is a
life science company focused on innovative genetic
analysis technologies for the research, drug discovery,
and diagnostic markets.
Helicos’ goal is to enable genetic analysis on an
unprecedented scale by providing scientists and
research/clinicians the ability to compare genes and
genomes from thousands of individuals. This, in turn,
will lead to the potential for improved drug therapies,
personalized medicine and more accurate molecular
diagnostics for diseases like cancer. Helicos’ product
has the potential of having a high demand due to the
faster results it provides. To ensure its business
process could handle this resulting demand, its
forward-thinking company leaders chose to implement IFS
Applications.

|
“Our
early commitment to an ERP application will help us
plan for and respond to the dynamics of the life
sciences marketplace. We feel strongly that IFS
Applications was the correct ERP choice based on our
needs to rapidly build our business processes.
Keeping in mind that our technology is cutting edge,
we also wanted an agile business system that would
scale with our plans for growth,” explained Helicos
BioSciences President and COO, Steve Lombardi.
